American Indian/Alaska Native Health and Family Services (IHFS)
Our vision: Tribal governments, tribal communities, children, families, and all AI/AN populations of the state of Utah who live on and off reservation are happy, healthy, and prosperous.
What we do
The Office of Native American and Alaskan Native Health and Family Services (IHFS) was established under Utah Code §26B-1-231, 26B-1-232 and 26B-1-233. It was created to support tribal governments, communities, children, and families in Utah. We help coordinate health and child welfare services between the tribes and the Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) by offering regular consultations with tribal governments, monitoring agreements between the tribes and DHHS, and providing liaisons to support the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and tribal health activities.
