Salt Lake City—The Department of Health and Human Services extends its sincere gratitude to Brian Redd for his dedicated service as executive director of the Department of Corrections. We wish him all the best after Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall recommended him to take the helm of the Salt Lake City Police Department. According to Salt Lake City, it’s anticipated that Redd will go before the City Council on March 4, 2025, for advice and consent. Assuming his confirmation, we look forward to working with him in this new role.
Director Redd was instrumental, in partnership with DHHS leadership, in the successful transition of healthcare services at state prisons to DHHS. Our work together has elevated healthcare for prisoners and strengthened both departments.
“We have valued our collaborative relationship with Director Redd and the Department of Corrections,” said DHHS Executive Director Tracy Gruber. “We remain committed to working closely with the Department of Corrections to ensure the health and well-being of the incarcerated population continues to be a top priority.”
