“A Time of Kindness and Healing” mural created with youth and community partners
What:
Slate Canyon Youth Center will be unveiling its new mural, “A Time of Kindness and Healing”. This mural experience allowed youth in custody to create a mural in conjunction with community partners. This is a continuation of the empowered arts engagement which started with the “Motivated Healing” Mural at the Salt Lake Valley Youth Center in 2019.
The Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services, the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, and Ogden Contemporary Arts, presents the “A Time of Kindness and Healing” mural. This project was born from the collaborative spirit of youth in custody at the Slate Canyon Youth Center (Provo, Utah) and dedicated community artists, with the support of several partner organizations and onsite staff.
Join us as we unveil this mural which embodies kindness by uplifting others through second chances.
