SALT LAKE CITY (January 10, 2022) – On December 16, 2021, Governor Spencer Cox announced the appointment of Jack Szczepanowski as the state’s new Medicaid Director. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected medical situation that arose with his family, Mr. Szczepanowski has had to withdraw his acceptance of this appointment. The Utah Department of Health expresses its concern and support for Mr. Szcepanowski and his family during their difficult time.
The department is working with Gov. Cox to identify another candidate for the position of State Medicaid Director. Tonya Hales will continue as interim Medicaid director while the position is vacant.
